Length weight relationship of Upeneus sundaicus and Upeneus tragula were assessed. The statistical relationships of body weight with total length were highly significant for male and female population of U. sundaicus and U. tragula. The correlation coefficient (r) value between sexes of U. sundaicus, reveals the highest ‘r’ value for its female population (r = 0.92). In the case of U. tragula, there is no much difference among sexes (r = 0.95). The absolute condition factor (Kn) value for U. sundaicus and U. tragula ranged between 0.8 and 1.68 respectively. The highest Kn value obtained from the length group was 105-109cm.
Key words: Length-weight relationship, Upeneus sundaicus, Upeneus tragula, Gulf of Mannar
