The purpose of this study was designed to create a job description and task analysis for Korean geriatric care helpers and examine performance frequency, importance, and validity of task elements. This study was a descriptive investigation: the subjects of Long Term Care (LTC) facilities is 152, Client Home (CH) to 219 total 371 care helpers. Duties, tasks, and task elements were measured using the framework proposed by Shin et al. Using SPSS WIN 18.0, descriptive statistics were conducted to examine the subject’s general characteristics, frequency, importance and validity of task. The task description of geriatric care helpers revealed 5 duties as physical care, emotional care, housekeeping and daily living assistance, special care assistance, and documenting and reporting. Washing face assistance, Providing oral care, Dressing assistance, Oral feeding assistance, Changing position, Ambulation assistance, and Toileting assistance were higher-reported task frequency and importance by those who worked in LTC. Washing face assistance, Providing oral care, Dressing assistance, Oral feeding assistance, Toileting assistance, Cleaning and managing supplies of Environment management, and Emotional care were higher-reported task frequency and importance by those who worked in CH. These findings suggest that training for care helpers of each facilities type will be differentiated. Task and Task elements reported by care helpers were modified and added to the standard textbook.
