Objectives: The objective of the study is to develop the methodology for preparing initial data for designing and manufacturing the structures based on Steel Fiber Reinforced Concrete (SFRC). Methods: Today developing basis of design for the structures based on Steel Fiber Reinforced Concrete (SFRC) is a problem that has not been ultimately solved. In this regard the regulations for preparing the initial data have to be formulated including the parameters of fiber reinforcement (diameter and length of fibers, their types, strength and stress-strain properties and volumetric content), compression strength of the initial concrete and its modulus of elasticity. Findings: In so far as SFRC is a composite material, its properties can be controlled by means of selecting the parameters of steel fiber reinforcement and the parameters of the concrete. Today both domestic and foreign markets supply quite a wide mix of fibers. Nevertheless, although the fibers feature different physical mechanical and geometrical characteristics, Russian regulations provide no data on their rational choice. There are no specifications on the rules for selecting the parameters of fiber reinforcement that would meet the operational requirements of the designed structure. Apparently, the methods of preparing initial data for designing SFRC-based structures have to be developed to ensure the best performance at the lowest costs. Applications/Improvements: The solution of the problem includes three stages: Numerical analysis of SFRC properties, fiber consumption optimization and software development for preparing the initial design data within the adopted database.
