Professional nurses have excellent nursing competency and it is acquired by long years of observing and attending on patients. This study is a repetitive descriptive research to find the factors that have impact on nursing competency. The period of survey was from March the 31st to April the 11th, 2014. This study chose 215 clinical nurses in C university hospital in D metropolitan city. The collected data for this study were analyzed using SPSS 18.0. The average of level of nursing competency of the participating nurse was 2.70 ± 0.36. The study showed that nursing competencies were significantly different by nurse's age, marital status, total clinical experience, current workplace, and final academic background (p<0.001). Therefore, it implies that it is necessary for a hospital to have a strategy to reduce the turnover and resignation of experienced nurses.
