Objectives: To portray a framework for change impact analysis. The proposed framework is a briefing about the techniques and methods used for analysis of code change impact. Statistical Analysis: Software change is a part of Software evolution process. Periodically change is required by the user for enhancement of the functionalities of the systems. Any change in a software system may affect some other part of the source code. A profound study and ample analysis are done for code change impact on literature. The study is focused on the properties and objects of analysis techniques and artifacts considered. Findings: Many approaches have been mentioned by researchers to analyze the change impact. A comparative analysis of types of analysis technique, intermediate tools support and various artifacts taken as objects is discussed. The analysis is done on the basis of methodologies used which may be a great help for future researchers. They can consider the combination of objects and apply information retrieval, text processing techniques. Application/Improvements: The change impact analysis helps to estimate testing effort and maintenance cost because testing of the whole system may cost higher.
