This article traces the history of cooperation and collaboration in science and technology between India and Germany during the last thirty years providing a comparative analysis of S&T output of India and Germany during 2004-09. It analyses the growth of India’s collaboration research with 12 significant countries during 2004-09. The analyses of the Indo-German collaborative research is centered on the overall level as well as broad and narrow subjects during 2004-09 in terms of growth, impact and quality, weak and strong areas of collaboration, geographical distribution, nature and type of institutional participation and collaborative linkages between institutions of two countries.
