This paper examines the factors that influence the teaching and learning of programming subjects. All factors of influence as mentioned in the literature and from surveys done in relation to previous research shows a distinct set of factors that should be highly considered in teaching programming. In this paper the factors are listed and discussed for future consideration when devising teaching plans for a programming subject. A brief recommendation was discussed at the end of the paper.
